If you do not pray in school it is entirely your choice. The law merely states that the state (public school teachers and staff) cannot innitiate prayer because it is an abuse of power and discriminatory

2004-11-03 [HiddenFire]: The non religious people find authority figures with religion to be annoying or even a threat. My grade had better NEVER rest on the philosophical musings of the teacher. All things considered people who take biology SHOULD at least understand and demonstrate knowlege of evolution, because from a scientific standpoint "God created it that way" just doesn't cut it. You can't force a person to believe in evolution but you can make them have to understand it for the test. ^_^

But that's not the whole story. The market couldn't support itself and it crashed. It was his fault, not Bush's, that the economy crashed. But it's likely that the ignorant American public will believe Hillary when she states that under her husbands administration the economy was the best it has ever been, and the Republicans killed it afterwards. A stock market does not crash all at once, it takes several years. There is NO WAY that it was Bush's fault.

How does any country who bombs another country, is as materialistic and selfish and lazy and pampered as ours, where do we get off talkign about "morals?" And isn't part of morals being fair and equal? Giving everyone the same rights, not just special rights for some, and having to clearly define the rights of others in order to make sure they don't recieve as many benefits as the rest of the peopel? This is clearly not what America stands for. And do you not realize that if you give your government the right to ammend and define what rights certain groups have, you are giving them the power to do the same to you if they so choose?

Firstly the bible is not against polygamy but society seems to think it is immoral nonetheless. Also adulterers should be stoned, and homosexuals should be beaten to death. Women shouldn't have any rights and we should be allowed to keep slaves. But as a people our morals have evolved, or at least for some of us not basing our lives on an antiquated book of law.

Not to mention that the writers of the bible didn't know homosexuality existed. They thought that everyone was straight and that "men laid with men" to avoid pregnancy and of course for the pleasure. They couldn't concieve of a man loving another man or a woman another woman in the context that we are speaking of.

There are many different levels of sins. Venial sin being like, a kid stealing a dollar from their moms purse...mortal sin is like going out and killing someone. They are VERY different in severity.

But I do know that from a philosophical point of view I believe there is NO reference to varying degrees of sin in the bible. I urge you to read it instead of simply accepting what everyone else has told you. It NEVER mentions the seven deadly sins, it NEVER mentions mortal verses Venial. Not in a single place in the whole book have I seen or heard of a reference to such things. But I have heard... and I know it's in there. That ALL sin is equal. If you want to get technical, I'm not really for any of the christian faith. *shrugs* I still can't figure out how there can be so many different denominations and then the catholics, when they're WORKING FROM THE SAME BOOK. Somehow several groups of people found an instruction book but they all built something different. @.@

Wouldn't you agree that your faith is all about your personal relationship with God/Jesus? And really, your relationship is different from everyone elses... you get what I'm saying? It's personal, it's an individual thing. You can't be religious simply by listening to and agreeing with what other people tell you, you have to walk that road, and feel it out for your own. So yeah... it's not too suprising that there are so many... not to mention that there are so many that actually have other religions in common. @.@

Aren't they the Church taht refused to acknowledge that teh sun didn't revolve around the earth until 1996??? Um yeah... 2004-11-07 [Leelo]: Well in things there is truth, you just have to look for it. I don't believe what the catholics believe well not all of it anyways, but still we shouldn't really put down someones religion, everyone takes pride in their religion and well she probably takes alot of pride. And we don't knwo if she's read "all" the bible but she studies it, so that a good thing. Sorry I'm not trying to sound mean, I'm just saying.

2004-11-07 [Lioness123]: ok, i have alot of things to address here, but I'll start on the bible...I can not say that i've read the bible from cover to cover, but I have studied it on and off for quite a while, and NO... not every christian demomination studies the same bible. Many demominations leave certain things out, such as Lutherans. And besides, you can't base your ENTIRE religion on the bible because not everything Jesus said or did can be contained in one book. If the bible held everything, it would be miles thick.

Dior, I know that the churchhas done many silly and down right wrong things in the past, one of the most recent things being the child molestations which upor hearing of horrified me, but the people behind those things, granted that they were church leaders, do not represent the church because they have strayed from the things the Jesus taught us.

But that's ok, as long as it all leads up to him, and how he died for our sins and that we accept him and his sacrifice he made. And as long as we beliveth in him. There is no true religion, ther is no right or wrong religion except for the religion that worships satan and has no beliefs in God what so ever, those are the only wrong religions. 2004-11-07 [Lioness123]: thats your opinion, the roman catholic church was started by Jesus and the other denominations are branches off of that church. there are major differences like baptism, confession, and other ones that I can't think of right this moment.

Although I knwo that's not what you meant, I'm just offering some contructive criticism. But ont he fact that Jesus started the Roman Catholic Church is wrong, historically. Jesus wasn't Catholic, as Catholicism wasn't truly a religion until after he died.
